Willard Raymond Horton, age 85, 214 Briggs Street, Unicoi, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, in the Life Care Center of Gray. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and son of the late Burnie O. and Mollie Biddie Blevins Horton. Mr. Horton was an employee of Hoover Ball and retired in 1988 as maintenance supervisor. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving his country from May 24, 1949 through November 1, 1952 and was recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). Mr. Horton was a member of Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church and a sixty year member of the Unicoi Masonic Lodge F&AM #681. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Horton and two sisters, Bessie Briggs and Callie Clark.

Mr. Horton leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife of sixty-four years, Barbara Jean Horton; a daughter, Teresa Horton of Gray; sister- in- law, Frances Horton of Unicoi; four nephews, Jim Briggs, Richard Horton, Gene Horton and special nephew, Gerald Briggs; three nieces, Lorraine Sambat, Ruth Gaines and Judy Lacey; special family members, Dianna McInturff, Anthony and Renee Lingerfelt, Andrew Lingerfelt, Kellye Lingerfelt Tolley.

A Masonic Service will be held Friday, February 17, 2017, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum at 12:30 P. M.
with Brother George Ritchie presiding. Active pallbearers will be Shane Briggs, Mitch Briggs, Andrew Lingerfelt, Jamie McKinney, Anthony Lingerfelt, Alvin Bailey and Dusty Tolley. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel McInturff, Mike Peterson and Tim McInturff.
