William “Bill” Horn, age 63, of Elizabethton, fought a good fight and the Lord called him home on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from his residence. Bill was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Rayborn and Jaqueline Spongaugle Horn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Jeff Garland, who was like a son to Bill; and a nephew, Robbie Michael, and his Uncle Mac.

Bill retired as a manufacturing supervisor and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Mountain Home, Tennessee and he was a re-enactor of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars- First East Tennessee, Battery B. He was also a member of the Masons of Tennessee and Roan Creek Lodge #679 Butler, Tennessee.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 26 years, Jan Horn, of the home; a daughter, Melissa “Sissy” Horn Vandeventer, of Elizabethton; a son, William “B.J.” Horn, Jr., of Butler; two grandsons, Eli Horn and Lucas “Luke” Horn; two granddaughters, Kayla “K.K.” Vandeventer and Morgan Whaley; one great grandchild, Grayson Baldwin; two brothers, Bob Horn and wife Helen, of Mountain City and Ernie Michael and wife Nancy, of Mannington, WV; his special friends, Rick “Boone” Stroud, Hank Huff, Bill Heard, Gayle Parker, Lance and Matt Hargis, and his former re-enactment buddies; his wife’s family that he loved as his own; and his two special dogs, Max and Molly May.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of William “Bill” Horn will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor John Hammit, officiating. The family will receive friends at any time at the residence. Active pallbearers will be William “B.J.” Horn, Jr., Lucas Horn, Bill Jones, David Forbes, Hank Huff and Bill Heard. Honorary pallbearers will be James “Walker” Walsh, Tim Horn, Ethan Fittro, Hunter Fittro, Chase Fittro, Rick “Boone” Stroud, Steve Mears, and Stephen Neesen. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, to go in procession. Rolling Thunder will be leading the procession. A masonic service will be conducted at the graveside by Lodge #679.
