William Paul Bales, II, age 76, of Piney Flats, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. William was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late William Paul Bales, Sr. and Edith Lucille Davis Bales.
William was a United States Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a radio technician and was a big jokester. He liked to tinker on things and was a Ham Radio enthusiast. William was also a volunteer firefighter in Piney Flats and was a volunteer for Bluff City Rescue. He, along with his wife, was a member of the Harley Davidson Owners Club of Johnson City and they enjoyed riding their Harley together and being outdoors.
Those left to cherish his many wonderful memories include his wife of 42 years, Cynthia Blackwelder Bales, of the home; two sisters-in-law, Anita (Frankie) Smith, of Bristol, VA and Denise King (Mitch), of Bristol, TN; a brother-in-law, Bryan Blackwelder (Nicole), of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews: Megan Yon (Daniel), Cody Smith, Cailyn King, Lauren Vanderpool (Austin) and Brandon Blackwelder; two great nieces: Isabella Hutton, Kennedie Yon; a great nephew: Jaxon Yon; and a special cousin, Tina Donahue (Martin).
A graveside and inurnment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Curt Johnson, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Cailyn King. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Bluff City EMS and Rescue and to Dr. Patel at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, #6 PMB 321, Johnson City, TN 37604 in honor of William Paul Bales, II.
