William “Bill” Blevins, age 84, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2016 from his residence. Bill was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late James Landon Blevins and Amanda Frances Tribble Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Holman Blevins; a daughter, Susan Blevins in 2012; two sisters, Dorothy Dyer and Myrtle Hill; a brother, Fred Blevins; three half-brothers, Emmett Tribble, Dewey Blevins, and Clarence Blevins; and one half-sister, Ethel Hill.

Bill retired from Summers-Taylor after 64 years of service as a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed hearing the word of God and was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. He was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher at church and also helped start some other churches in this area. He enjoyed working on cars, different appliances and was considered a “handy man”. Bill also enjoyed yard work and waking up in the morning and listening to Swap and Shop. He never quit working. He and his wife were loving and caring parents to many foster children throughout the years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Eric Shane Blevins and wife Carolyn, of Elizabethton and Stacey James Blevins, of Johnson City; a sister, Connie Edmison and husband Bill, of Elizabethton; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Helen Faye Eggert, of Ormand Beach, FL; special friends, Bob and Shirley Shell, Floyd Broyles, David Broyles and David Mink; his caregiver, Barbara Blevins, of the home; and his sisters-in-law, Louise Guy and Shirley Smith, both of Elizabethton and Ruth Bowling, of South Carolina.
