Dr. William Timothy (Tim) Roberts, PhD, RD, LD, CFS, age 57, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. Dr. Roberts was born September 3, 1960 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to William H. Roberts, of Hampton, Tennessee and the late Thelma Johnson Roberts. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Larry Blevins.
Dr. Roberts was a professor of Family and Consumer Science at Jacksonville State University. He was also the director of Dietary Management and Distant Learning at Auburn University. Dr. Roberts was a registered dietician and received his B.S. and Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Tennessee and his PHD from Auburn University. He received his dietician degree from UAB.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, William H. Roberts, of Hampton, TN; the love of his life and life partner of 10 years, Leesa Matthews and her family, of Rome, GA; his cousins, Linda Jarrett, Patricia Dishman, Gary W. Blevins and Benjamin Franklin. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Dude, his dog and Rocky, his cat.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. William Timothy (Tim) Roberts, will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Bud Street and Rev. Danny Osborne, officiating. Music will be provided by Rita Lyons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday or at the home of his father at any time.
The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Gary Wayne Blevins, David Blevins, Dr. Kevin Ward, Lindsay Winegart, Chris Ashley, Derek Loyd and Chad Whisnant. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Jarrett, J.D. Calhoun, Bobby Stevens, Bryan DuBois, E.J. Blevins, David Matthews and Dennis Nolan. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Friday.
