image Mrs. Donnis Mae Potter Winters Hicks, 93, Johnson City passed away Wednesday March 16, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Although she lived most of her life in Carter County, she was a native of Butler, Tennessee (Buntontown). She was a daughter of the late William Millard & Pearl Bunton Potter.

Mrs. Hicks was a Cook at Gurney’s for several years. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. She loved to quilt and work crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Edward Winters and Daniel Louis Hicks; her son, Wayne Edward Winters; two sisters, Velda Potter and Danford Grace Potter Bowman; four brothers, Kyle, Claye, Ree & Bernard Potter; and two step-sons, Larry & Douglas Hicks.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law: Brenda Winters Demister Sneyd and David Sneyd, Johnson City; Four Grandchildren: Bryan Conrad Edmisten and wife, Phyllis, Erica Nicole Edmisten Ford and husband, Mike, Johnson City, Wesley Edward Winters, New Jersey, and Valerie Elizabeth Winters Huggard and husband, Aaron, New Zealand; a daughter-in-law: Irene Winters, Union, New Jersey; Two Great Granddaughters: Annie & Rachael Edmisten, Johnson City; One Brother: The Reverend Russell Potter, Elizabethton; One Step-Daughter, Peggy Long, Ohio; and several very special nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Commemoration Services will be conducted at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main Street, Elizabethton, on Sunday March 20, 2011, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jones and Rev. Jack Lyons officiating.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Glenda & Lowell Trivette. Active Pallbearers will be: Bryan Edmisten, Wesley Winters, Dale Potter, Michael Potter, Mark Potter, Aaron Potter and Scott Sams. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Johnny Lewis, Quinton Banner, Raymond Montgomery, David Ronnie Bowman, David Rowland, James Moss, Daniel Lewis and John Smith.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of Brenda & David Sneyd, Johnson City.
