Bobby Gene Grindstaff, 73, Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, September 11, 2017 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Robert Earl & Lora Shouse Grindstaff. He served in the United States Army. Bobby was retired from Snap-On-Tools as an Electronic Technician. He was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist. He loved to play the Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, sing in church, and collected old Westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Robert Grindstaff, and three brothers: Jerry Grindstaff, Tex Grindstaff and Joe Shouse.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Helen Earnhardt Grindstaff. A Son: Michael Keith Browder and wife Angie Greene Browder. A Daughter: Selena Dawn Norris and Husband Johnny Norris, Jr. Two Sisters: Sheila Nidiffer & husband Larry Nidiffer and Janice Calloway. Six Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. A special sister-in-law: Shirley Grindstaff.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson and Rev. Jerry Cornett officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Selena Norris. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be his church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Mtn. States Hospice especially; Greg, Ruby & Pam. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
