Mr. Bill A. Hopkins, 71, of Elizabethton died Friday, June 10, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Sneedville, TN he was the son of Elsie Gibson Hopkins, Sneedville and the late Arthur Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins had retired as a steel worker from Baltimore, MD. He was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church and he was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a combat engineer and a training instructor.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of forty-nine years, Hazel Hopkins of the home; a daughter, Christi Scott, Elizabethton; a son, Jeff Hopkins and wife Beth, Deatsville, AL; three grandchildren, Kelly Scott, Elizabethton and Amanda and Jeffrey Hopkins, both of Deatsville, AL; two brothers, Dana Hopkins and Kenneth Hopkins and five sisters, Lois Seal, Geneva Price, Esther Cannon, Norma Calfee and Judy Ramsey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service for Mr. Bill A. Hopkins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2011 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Mr. Bob Shannon, minister officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jim and Connie Vaughn. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at other times.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
