Nilene Hart Walker, 84, Elizabethton passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late George Lee and Retta Morley Hart. Mrs. Walker was a retired school teacher. She was a 1946 graduate of Elizabethton High School, attended Milligan College and received a BS Degree in Home Economics from East Tennessee State University. She also received a Certificate in Elementary Education. Nilene taught school for 32 years in Florida, North Carolina and the last ten years she taught at the Whitesburg Elementary School in Hamblem County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Cline Walker, March 1982, by a son: Danny Lee Walker in 2009, a brother: Richard L. Hart and a sister Jane Ella Burrow.

Survivors include Two Daughters: Elaine Skelton of the home and Melissa Mefford, Morristown. Five Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren. A Sister: Joyce Dalton, Baltimore, Maryland. Several Nieces & Nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Keith Walker officiating. The eulogy will be given by her daughter Elaine Skelton. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the 1946 graduating Class of Elizabethton High School. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
