Mrs. Betty L. Bowers Shouse, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Worley and Victoria Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Joe Shouse.
Mrs. Shouse was the former owner and operator of Betty’s Burger Hut in the Hunter Community. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, T.J. Shouse, Elizabethton; a brother, Larry Bowers, Kodak, Tenn.; four nephews, Scott Bowers, Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., Andy Bowers of Mississippi, Joey Bowers, Elizabethton, and Matthew Bowers, Kodak, Tenn.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and three special friends, Lisa Hyder of Mississippi, Gayle Scalf and Lily Carriger, both of Elizabethton.
The funeral service for Mrs. Shouse will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Bobby Stout officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Bowers, Andy Bowers, Joey Bowers, Matthew Bowers, Kenneth Mann and Neil Friedman.
