Brenda Ray Shell, 72, Elizabethton, made her journey into heaven on Friday, June 28, 2013, at Hillview Health Center to spend eternity with her Savior, husband and parents. A native of Burlington, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Chris and Ometa Waddell Ray. She had lived in Elizabethton for over fifty years. She was a former employee of Coleman’s Studio. Brenda was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Junior Woman’s Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Shell, August 27, 2004. Survivors include Four Daughters: Kathy Amidon, of Nashville, Becky Vines, Elizabethton, Debbie Peters and husband, Steve, Johnson City, and Jennifer Lawson and husband, Tony, Elizabethton; One Son: Tim Shell and wife, Jennifer, Warner Robins, Georgia; 13 Grandchildren: Ashley Swafford, Lauren Wray and husband, Matt, Derrick Vines, Hunter Peters, Natasha Peters, Amanda Shell, Brittany Baughcum and husband, Lee, Caitlin Shell, Joshua Shell, Austin Shell, Kristen Shell, Aaron Lawson and Ty Lawson; Several Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; Five Sisters: Judy Aumiller and husband, Brad, of Pennsylvania, Pat Bryant and husband, Bill, of Missouri, Chris Mosley and husband, Roger, Johnson City, Peggy Ray, Elizabethton, Sue Cox and husband, David, Kingsport. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Polk and Mr. Norman Cooper Jr. officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Allen Bowling and Doug Blair. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday, will be: Brad Aumiller, Bill Bryant, Roger Mosley, David Cox, Lowell Shell and Bobby Vines Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Norman Cooper Sr., Steve Peters and Tony Lawson. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the entire staff of Hillview Health Center and Dr. Vivian Clark. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a daughter; Debbie Peters, 1672 Powder Branch Road, Johnson City.
