Brenetia Stevens Simerly, 88, formerly of the Upper Gap Creek community, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Mike Garfield Stevens and Betty Morton Stevens and was born in Washington County but lived most of her life in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rossie S. Simerly. Mrs. Simerly was a member of the Gap Creek Christian Church.
Mrs. Simerly has no survivors.
A graveside service for Mrs. Simerly will be conducted on Sunday, January 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Ken Kehrer, minister, officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:25 p.m. Sunday.
