image Carlos Michael “Mike” Hale, 75, of 705 4th Street, Elizabethton, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 17, 2011. He was born in Elizabethton and was the son of the late French Beamer and Helen Francis Merritt Hale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Deborah Hale.

Mike was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and of Steed College. He was a U.S. Army veteran having proudly served during the Korean War. Mike worked for 37 years with Tetrick Funeral Home and United Family Life Insurance of Atlanta, Georgia and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Shirley Jane Fair Hale, of the home; 2 sons – T. Mark Hale, R. Todd Hale; 2 step-daughters – Debra Wickwire Presnell (Ronny), Kellee Wickwire Akers (Richard); 2 grandsons – William Michael Hale, Chase Hale; granddaughter – Cierra Hale; step- granddaughter – Faith Presnell Couch and(Eric); step-grandson – Seth Presnell (Tracy); great- grandchild – Korbin M Hale; 5 step-great grandchildren – Jaiden Couch, Mikeala Couch, Lucus Akers, Natalie Akers, Katherine Akers; sister – Ann Ornduff (Gilbert); 3 Nieces – Pamela Ornduff, Mona Ornduff Evans and Kelly Ornduff Dale. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Friends may also call at the residence 705 4th Street at other times. The Celebration of Life service for Mr. Hale will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Happy Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum of Peace, with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Tetrick, David Blackburn, Dr. Dane Harden, Cletus Boling, Marty Church, Ken Nave, Doug Rasnick, David Rasnick, Gilbert Ornduff, Dennis Hicks, Roger Ledford and Ray Williams. Those who wish to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 10:15 AM. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Salvation Army ,204 W. Walnut Street. Johnson City, TN, 37604.
