Charlene Burleson Guess, 74, of Choctaw Drive, Chuckey, passed away Saturday at her home.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William David and Ruth Carrie Elliott Burleson.
She was a 1956 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She had lived in Chuckey since 1977.
Charlene loved to read and work with crafts.
She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years: Carl “Buzzy” Guess; two sons and daughters-in-law: Keith Alan and Susan Guess of Murphy, N.C., and Michael David and Nathi Guess of Chuckey; two grandchildren: Spencer Keith Guess and Rylee Maelyn Guess; one brother: David Burleson of Elizabethton; and one sister: Dorothy Perry of Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Cecil “Nick” Bradshaw will officiate.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family, friends, and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Burleson, Chance Burleson, Billy Bowling, Johnny Perry, Barry Taylor and Rick Taylor.
The family expressed a special “Thank You” to Caris Hospice for the excellent care.
