Charlotte Ann Smith, 72, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Hester Jane Peters May. She was a 1957 graduate of Elizabethton High School.
Charlotte was a retired employee of Tri-State Container and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Smith, and a sister: Betty Jo Arnold.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis Lyons and wife, Lee, David Lyons and wife, Georg Jetta, Phillip Lyons and wife, Carol, and Russell Lyons and wife, Lori, all of Elizabethton; one daughter, Janie Rice of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Brittany Rice; and eight great grandchildren.
She is also survived by an adopted daughter: Sue Ann Plumber; five sisters, Ruth Pilk, Mary Oliver, Bonnie Carr, and Christeen Swain, all of Elizabethton; and two brothers:.Alvin May and Frank May, Jr. both of Elizabethton. Three brothers-in-law also survive
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. Entombment service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Loretta Bowers. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit at the residence of her daughter. Janie Rice, 482 Sycamore Shoals Drive, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
