Cheryl L. Hayes, age 60, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following a brief illness.
Cheryl was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church. She graduated nursing school as an LPN. She later became a certified pet groomer. She loved animals, showed award winning dogs and horses.
Cheryl was an avid UT women’s basketball fan.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ralph and Maudene Baird; paternal grandparents, James Hayes Sr. and Stella Hayes; and her father, James P. Hayes Jr.
Surviving are her mother, Virginia B. Hayes, of Kingsport; sister, Bobbie H. Phillips and husband, Mayor Dennis Phillips, of Kingsport; brother, James P. “Jay” Hayes III, of Kingsport; two nephews, James William Phillips and Evan Phillip Hayes, both of Kingsport; aunt, Dorothy Baird Carpenter, of Johnson City, TN; and two uncles, Thomas Hayes, of Bristol, and Kenneth Hayes, of Elizabethton.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 20, 2012, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Happy Valley Memorial Park. Inurnment will follow the memorial service.
The family will receive friends following the services at the home of Virginia B. Hayes in Kingsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Cheryl L. Hayes to the SBK Animal Shelter 380 Masengill Road, Blountville, TN 37617.
