Mrs. Christie Trent, 53, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.

She was the daughter of Ann Stout Greer, of Mountain City, and the late Ray Greer. She was born in Johnson County but had lived in Carter County since 1995. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Greer.

Mrs. Trent was a former employee of Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, where she worked as an LPN. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton. Her passion was missions and she was a strong supporter of missions in her church and had gone on trips to the Czech Republic.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Trent is survived by her husband, George W. Trent, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ray Dwyer, FL, Kim and Dwayne Fair, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Curtis and Rosemary Trent, Maryville, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Leonard Perry, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Glenda Greer, Butler; a sister in-law and her husband, Shirley and Jack Powers, SC; a sister-in-law, Barbara Trent, Elizabethton; and five grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Trent will be conducted on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 8:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Raymond Amos and Rev. Curtis Trent officiating.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday prior to the service and at the home at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Frank Powers, Richard Tester, Ray Dwyer, Dwayne Fair, Kelly Geagley and Stan Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelvin Colson, Leonard Perry, Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Robert Schubert. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Mission Fund of First United Methodist Church, 325 East E Street, Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643.
