Ms. Christine Swift, 85, 268 Russell Hill Road, Elizabethton died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Nellie Bell Nidiffer. She was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation. Ms. Swift was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Lynn Ellison, three brothers, Robert Eugene Nidiffer, Albert (Bush) Nidiffer and Claude Nidiffer Jr. and a sister, Hildred Fair. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley A. Ledford, Elizabethton; a son, Claude Jackson Swift, Florida; three grandchildren, Crystal Garland and husband Joseph, Dawn Sheffield and husband Deon and Jesse Ledford and wife Judy, all of Elizabethton; five great-granddaughters, Heather Ellison, Jessica Ledford, Olivia Presnell, Katelyn Presnell and Autumn Sheffield. Special friends, Steve and Helen Murray and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Committal and entombment service for Ms. Christine Swift will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the Mausoleum of Peace of Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Rondal Edwards officiating. Active pallbearers will be Deon Sheffield, Joe Garland, Steven Walker, Greg Stout, Jessie Ledford and Joe Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Sheryl Kyte.
The family will receive friends at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 11:00-11:45 A.M. prior to the committal service or at the residence at other times. Those attending the committal service will leave from the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
