Clinton Sheffield

Clinton L. “Snook” Sheffield, 76, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Norwalk, Ohio. He was born on August 27, 1934 in Elizabethton and was the son of the late Silas G. and Eva Viola Davis Sheffield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Kukucka-Cooley; a sister, Jean Sheffield; and a brother, Stan Sheffield. Mr. Sheffield was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for most of his enlistment. He was a police officer for over 25 years, serving on the Sandusky, Ohio Police Department and was retired from the Cedar Point Amusement Park Police Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and cook who enjoyed camping, hunting with his friends in Southern Ohio and cooking.

Mr. Sheffield is survived by his sister, Alice Tyger of Jacksonville, Ark.; a son-in-law, Phillip Kukucka; his grandson, Jacob Cooley; two aunts, Corrine Wilcox and Velma Elliott, both of Elizabethton; and numerous nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his special friend, Janis Russ and her family of Norwalk, Ohio.

A graveside service for Mr. Sheffield will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Ken Jordan officiating. Active pallbearers will be Danny Elliott, Jarred Ellis, James “Jay” Cantley, Steve Hubbard, Rick Elliott and Tony Elliott. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49.
