Clyde Henry Bowers, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Calvin Green and Minnie Smith Bowers. Mr. Bowers was retired from the Power House of North American Rayon Corporation. He attended Southside Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Burl Bowers, and a sister, Uvada Morrell. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Kate Bradley Bowers; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Lloyd Lowe; a sister-in-law, Lola Bowers; nephews, C.J. Campbell, Dan Simerly and Jamie Chambers (and his son Brandon); nieces, Amy Campbell, Shirley Chambers, Mary Harrell (and her son Noah) and Jennifer Terrell; his sisters-in-law, Bettie Dolan, Mary Dykes and Margaret Bradley; and a brother-in-law, John “Bud” Bradley and his wife Mae. Graveside services for Mr. Bowers will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Mike Koruschak, minister, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Edens, Junior Guess, Keith Oaks, Clyde Vandagriff, Stewart Campbell, all members of Southside Christian Church and all family members. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s church of choice or their favorite charity.
