Mrs. Colleen Simerly Davenport, 89, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012, in the Jonas Ridge Adult Care Center in Jonas Ridge, NC.
She was the daughter of the late Willie and Mary Banks Simerly and was born in Carter County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.H. Davenport, whom she married on April 5, 1953; and five brothers, Kale Simerly, Thurman Simerly, Conley Simerly, Cecil Simerly and Ozro “Ozzie†Simerly.
She was retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a member of East River Park Christian Church in Elizabethton.
She is survived by a nephew, Ozzie Simerly and his wife, Cheryl, of Charlotte, NC; and a niece, Cathy Simerly Miller, of Hampton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Davenport will be conducted on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.
The committal and entombment service will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Pleasant, Jerry Simerly, Bobby Simerly and Steve Simerly.
