Mr. D. Grant Bennett, 92, of Elizabethton, TN, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Malley and Lillie Arnett Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Bennett, Darius Bennett and Barney Bennett.

Mr. Bennett attended Eastside Freewill Baptist Church and retired as a maintenance supervisor at Siam Utilities. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Jane Randolph Bennett, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Joe Hyder, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathy Bennett, Elizabethton, and Dale and Sharon Bennett, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Jill Lewis and husband, Brett, Robin Hyder, Abigail Bennett, Kelsey Bennett and Ashton Bennett; one great granddaughter, Taylor Bowers; two brothers, Martin Bennett, Hampton, and Clinton Bennett, Elizabethton; two sisters, Jane Ward, Jonesborough, and Myrtle Rudy, Sulphur Springs, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Justin Deaton and Rev. Jack Roddy officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times.

The committal and entombment service will follow at the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church.
