Daniel Eugene â€œDannyâ€ Carrier, 43, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Walter J. and Shirley McKeehan Carrier Colbaugh. Danny was a 1985 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation and was a farmer. He attended Gap Creek Christian Church. Dannyâ€™s hobbies were farming and listening to music.
Survivors include six sisters, Kathy Rasnick and husband Tony, Watauga, Teresa Cable and husband Burl, Elizabethton, Charlene Abbott, Knoxville, Sharon Townson, Roan Mountain, Diana Blevins, Shelby Williams and husband Raymond; two brothers, Lonnie W. Grindstaff and Walter S. Carrier and wife Linda, all of Elizabethton; his step-father, Albert Eugene Colbaugh, Elizabethton; a step-brother, Ricky Colbaugh, Elizabethton; a step-sister, Vickie Colbaugh, Elizabethton; and three aunts, Sonjia Steele of Iowa, Gladys Reep and husband Jack of Virginia and Nancy Berry and husband Lawrence, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Carrier will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C.W. Snodgrass officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, will be Derrick Storie, Adam Storie, Scottie Rasnick, Steven Rasnick, Charles Berry, McKinley Berry and Barry Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Abbott, Lawrence A. Berry, Jeff Berry, Doug Anderson, Wesley Frazier and Timothy Carrier. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
