image Daniel Ray (Danny Ray) Elliott, 64, Elizabethton was taken from his family and friends to be with his Lord on Sunday April 3, 2011.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry E. & Juanita Davis Elliott. He was a 1966 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was a retired employee of the Elizabethton Electric System. Danny was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and attended Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Linda Payne Elliott. One Daughter: Stephanie Elliott and boy friend Tony Carr of the home. His Twin Sister: Sandra Kay Stevens and her husband Bobby, Hampton. One Brother: Tony Elliott and wife Sue, Elizabethton. A Nephew: Bobby C. Stevens, Hampton. Aunts: Corinne Wilcox and Velma “Pete” Elliott both of Elizabethton. His Brothers-In-Law: Ronnie Payne and wife Joan, Jonesborough, Randy Payne and wife Debbie and Rodney Payne and wife Jean all of Elizabethton. A Sister-In-Law: Mildred Wilson, Angleton, Texas. Several special nieces & nephews. Jarrod Ellis the son he never had.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday will be: John Kincer, Dicky Clark, David Payne, Michael Payne, Jarrod Ellis, Rick Elliott, Wayne Ward, Tony Carr and Reuben Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mike Frazier, Employees and former employees of the Elizabethton Electric System, members of the Fairview Baptist Church and AWANA Program, Terry “Mud” Montgomery and all of his friends.

Danny was a friend to everyone and never saw a stranger and never failed to help anyone that needed help. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence 176 Earl McKiney Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
