Mr. Darrell Gray McClure, age 74, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Raymond and Byer Gray McClure and was born in Washington County. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Lynn McClure; and one sister, Patsy Brown.
Mr. McClure retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. He was a United States Veteran, having served in the US Navy from 1960-1964. He also served twenty-five years in the Army National Guard.
Mr. McClure is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Christine McClure, of the home; two sons, Lance D. McClure and his wife, Traci, Alta Vista, VA; Mitchell G. McClure and his wife, Linda, Elizabethton; one daughter, Lee Ann F. Fox and her husband, Jody, Elizabethton; one brother, Bobby McClure and his wife, Martha; one sister, Mary Ruth Campbell and her husband, Al, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Jacob McClure, Joshua McClure, Alta Vista, VA, Ezekiel McClure and Caleb Hancock, Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 31, from 10:00-11:30 AM at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
The graveside service and interment will immediately follow the visitation at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Lance McClure and Rev. Nick Bradshaw officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Darrell Wayne Sells will serve as honorary pallbearer.
