Deborah C. “Debbie” Pierce, 56, Piney Flats, entered into rest, Friday, September 6, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a native of Elizabethton and had lived in Roanoke, Virginia, for a number of years before returning to the Tri-Cities. Debbie was a 1975 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was a daughter of the late Kermit and Helen Tucker Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Doug Smith; a nephew: David Scott Smith; and her father-in-law: Wayne Pierce. She was employed by Bell Helicopter, Piney Flats. She attended Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include her loving husband of over 24 years: Chuck Pierce; Three Brothers: Sonny Smith and wife, Pat, Elizabethton, Kermit Smith and Wife, Cindy, Watauga, and David Smith and wife, Saundra, Blackwater, Virginia; A Sister: Brenda Davidson, Elizabethton; Several nieces, nephews and other family members; Her Mother-In-Law: Faye Pierce, Elizabethton; and her beloved dog, Sadie.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Greg Largent officiating. Private Entombment Services will be Wednesday, September 11, 2013, in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Lisa McGovern, Pianist. Honorary Pallbearers will be her work family from Bell Helicopter. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her niece and caregiver Susan Holtsclaw; Dr. Robert Enck and the staff from the Regional Cancer Center; and to the nurses at Mountain States Hospice.
