Mr. Dillard J. Blevins, age 84, of Hampton, TN passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 in Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Dave W. and Minnie Miller Blevins. He retired from the Raytheon Corporation. He loved his Church and was a deacon and the oldest member of Sunrise Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Blevins also enjoyed beekeeping. He was a U.S. Army and National Guard veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Blevins. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Lillie Blevins, of the home; a sister, Mandy Perkins and husband Dexter; a special brother-in-law, Lewis Honeycutt and wife Charlotte; a special sister-in-law, Martha Hardin and husband Archie and a special niece, Rachel White. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Dillard J. Blevins will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 1, 2013 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bob Campbell and Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sunrise Freewill Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be E. J. Blevins, Dexter Perkins, Keith Perkins, Blaine Honeycutt Jr., Lewis Honeycutt, Thyrone Powell and Jackie Paul Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Harrison, Ben Harrison, Archie Hardin, Nelse Banks, Jeff Hardin, Bill Hardin, Jamie Hardin and Jesse Hardin.
