Dino J. Senesi Sr., 80, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Scranton, Pa., he had lived the last 50 years in Elizabethton. Mr. Senesi was the son of the late Giusepe and Rose Mascolo Senesi.
Upon moving to Elizabethton, Mr. Senesi opened Dino’s Restaurant in Elizabethton where he was both owner and operator. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Elizabethton.
Mr. Senesi was also very involved, and adamantly supported, the Elizabethton Boys & Girls Club and the Elizabethton Twins Baseball Team.
Mr. Senesi is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Street Senesi, Elizabethton. Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Randy Slagle, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Dino Senesi Jr. and wife Yvette, Rock Hill, S.C.; five grandchildren, Abigail Senesi and Anna Senesi, both of Rock Hill, S.C., Krista Mikusek, Columbia, S.C., Kaleh Slagle, Elizabethton, and Derek Slagle, Jonesborough; two great-grandchildren, Owen Mikusek and Brock Mikusek, both of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Ralph Senesi, Jacksonville, Fla.; and a sister, Maryann Kissinger, Silver Springs, Fla. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Senesi will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 29, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dino Senesi Jr., Dr. Joe Sorah, Rev. Harold Mains, Rev. Ron Owens and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The committal and entombment will follow the service in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from Mr. Senesi’s friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Johnson City Medical Center 2300 Wing and the ICU Unit and also to the doctors and staff of Hillview Health Center for all the love and care shown to Dino and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elizabethton Boys & Girls Club, 104 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643, in remembrance of Mr. Senesi.
