ELIZABETHTON — Donald J. Treadway, 69, 312 East I Street, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mozella Hagy Treadway. He was a 1959 graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State University and Milligan College.

Don was a retired Photographer with Coleman’s Studio. He had served as a Commissioner in the 8th district for 29 years. Don was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church, a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238, the Elizabethton Elks Lodge # 1847. He was an avid Lady Vol Fan and Golfer.

Survivors include his wife: Sandra Markland Treadway; A Son & Daughter-In-Law: Greg & Brandy Treadway, Forsyth, Georgia; Three Grandchildren: Erica Love, Hannah Miller and Bailey Miller; A Sister: Janice Treadway Ferguson and husband, Henry, Johnson City; Several Nieces & Nephews.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. James Royston officiating. Burial will follow the service. Music will be provided by Mr. Joel Crisp.

Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, will be: Shane Gouge, Doug Buckles, Cary White, David Sellers, Joe Sluder, Brian Vaughn, Larry Woods and Norman Peters. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bill Swift, Norman Chesser, Bill Horton, Billy Ray Harrell, Kent Hyder, Mack Henry, members of the 1959 Graduating Class of Hampton High School and Present and Former Commissioners of Carter County.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the ICU of Johnson City Medical Center, Employees of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the Princeton Transitional Service and Dr. Kenny Hopland.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. To those who prefer memorials may be made to the Valley Forge Christian Church or First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Friends may also call at the residence.
