Donella Lois Anderson Jones, 85, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011.
Mrs. Jones was born March 27, 1926 in Spokane, Washington to the late Cranston Anderson and the late Hannah Olson Anderson. Mrs. Jones had made her home in Johnson City for the past two years and had recently moved to North Carolina to be near her daughter. She alongside her husband, who was a missionary, pastor and college professor had resided in several areas throughout the United States and also foreign countries including Ethiopia and Mexico. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her daily walks. Mrs. Jones was a gracious hostess and she always made students, friends and family feel welcome in her home. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Rex Jones who passed away in 1995; three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are her daughters, Sue Doggett of Clyde , NC and Valerie Bretz and her husband, Charlie Bretz of Colton, Oregon ; a son, Grant Jones and his wife, Kassie Jones of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at First Christian Church- Johnson City, 200 Mount Castle Drive. A graveside interment service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton, TN.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Jones memory to the Rex Jones Scholarship Fund, Emmanuel Christian Seminary.
