Dora D. Holly, 96, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City, following an extended illness.

Dora was born in Zionsville, N.C., to the late Lee and Verna Cornett Fletcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bat Eye” Holly Jr.; a grandson, Rick Garrison; and by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Holly was retired from Bemberg and was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Geneva Garrison, wife of the late Jack Garrison, Sherry Hamm and husband Roger, and Carolyn Minton and husband Steve, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Melissa Nelson and husband Blake, Wendy Good and husband Sean, Michael Thomas and wife Michelle, Hollie Harris and husband Ric, and Jonathan Minton and wife Cassie; 10 great-grandchildren, Whitney Landress and husband Chad, Courtney Towle, Kevin Nelson, Zackary Garrison, Eric Garrison and wife Lisa, Brittany Thomas, Micheala Thomas, Brent Thomas, Sydney Minton and Rylee Minton; and four great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian Landress, Taylor Garrison, Zane Garrison and Miley Garrison. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family respectfully requests your presence at a funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Dora D. Holly on Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Rev. Walker Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 1:15 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Holly’s caregiver and friend, June Dugger, for the love and care shown to her during her illness.
