Dorothy Jane Johnson Cole, 99, Johnson City, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, in the Appalachian Christian Village.

A native of Watauga County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late A.C. & Elber Hayes Johnson. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.

She was a retired employee of Bemberg and North American Rayon Corporation after 40 years of service. Mrs. Cole had served as a Pink Lady at Carter County Memorial Hospital for several years. She was the oldest member of West Side Christian Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: C.C. Cole; and three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: K. Jack & Sonja Cole, Elizabethton; Two Grandsons: Walter Cole, of Texas, and Douglas Cole, of California; One Granddaughter: Suzanne Artis; One Great Grandson: Troy Artis; Her Nieces: Faye Hashe & husband, Steve, Kingsport, Charlotte Mellroe and husband, Paul, Oak Ridge, and Kay Forrester, Morristown; Her special friend: Joe Horton.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Greg Key, Minister, officiating.

Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Rachel Monderer, The Staff of Appalachian Christian Village and the Lydia Circle of West Side Christian.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Cole to the West Side Christian Church, 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.

Friends may visit at the residence of Jack & Sonja Cole Thursday morning prior to the graveside service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
