Earl Fred Taylor

Earl F. Taylor, age 79, Elizabethton TN, passed away on Monday June 27, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Nursing Facility after an extended illness.

He was a native of Carter County and son of the late George and Mary Johnson Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Widby Taylor; and daughter Sherry “Penny” Jean Taylor; brothers, George and Albert Taylor; sisters, Helen Stover, Amelia McKesson, Camilla Taylor and Geraldine Taylor.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his brother, Charles “Bundy“ Taylor, of Elizabethton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was employed by North American Rayon, American Air Filters, Snap On Tools and Sears. Mr. Taylor was a member of New Zion Faith Center, Johnson City, TN, where he served as a deacon. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Tennessee National Guard.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff and nurses of the Veterans Administration Nursing Facility 1st floor, Amedisys Hospice Services and Dr. Kim Pratt, Mountain States Regional Cancer Center.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Taylor will be conducted on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. from the New Zion Faith Center, 127 Garden Dr., Johnson City, with Reverend Ernest Widby Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at the Happy Valley Memorial Park with military rites. Words of comfort can be sent to the family on our website. Active pallbearers will be Sam Smith, George Taylor Jr., Vico McKesson, Gerald Turbyfill, Robert Taylor Jr. and Shawn Earnest.
