Mr. Eddie Dean Palmer, 63, 106 Mount Vernon Place, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was the son of the late William Broce and Virginia Wilson Palmer and was born in Avery County, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, C.S. Estep and a brother, Harold Dean Palmer.

Mr. Palmer was a deputy with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department from 1977-1985. In 1985 he went to work at Nuclear Fuels in Erwin where he worked until 1995 when he stated working at Kennametal. He was an active member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church where he sang as a soloist and with the Pleasant Beach Quartet. Music was his life.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lingerfelt Palmer, of the home; four sons, Cody Palmer, also of the home; Timothy Dean Palmer and his wife, Amy, Elizabethton; Chad Floyd Palmer and his wife, Heather, Bristol, TN; Jay Estep, Elizabethton; a daughter, Tina Whitehead, Elizabethton; one granddaughter, Ariana Floyd; two grandsons, Braedon Floyd and Dylan Estep, his special grandson; a sister, Clairece Powell, Roan Mountain; three brothers, Charles Palmer and his wife, Linda, Johnson City; Johnny Palmer and his wife, Mary, Elizabethton; Roger Palmer and his wife, Judy, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Palmer will be conducted on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Pleasant Beach Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Stout and Pastor Charles Biggs officiating.

The family will receive friends in the church from 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from church members. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends and neighbors.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Pleasant Beach Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 Pleasant Beach Road, Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643.
