Eileen Street Kelsey, age 92, died on Friday, April 12th, at Christian Care Center in Johnson City, three months after the death of her husband of 71 years, Arthur “Bud” Kelsey.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arvil “A.L.” Street and Josephine Johnson Street; and her brother, Bobby Harold Street.

Eileen grew up in the “Y” section of Washington County, attended Training School, graduated from Science Hill High School and business college in Knoxville.

She was a lady who loved to take care of her family, find bargains for pretty clothes, visit with her life long friends, laugh at her husband’s stories and jokes, and spoil her grandchildren and great grand children.

Eileen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Hoe and Hope Garden Club and played with two bridge clubs. She was also a Girl Scout Leader who hated camping and a winning “middle of the fairway” golfer.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Kelsey Hawkins, of Cornelius, NC; grandchildren, Kelsey Hawkins Willard and her husband, Andrew Willard, of Greensboro, NC, and Michael Hawkins, of Cornelius, NC; great grand children, Samuel Willard, Robert Willard and Mary Lynn Willard, of Greensboro, NC. Several first cousins, brother and sister in laws, and nieces and nephews also survive.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Christian Care Center for providing Eileen with excellent care and a loving home for the past several years.

The graveside service will be Monday, April 15, 2013, at 1 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the east parlor of Appalachian Funeral Home.
