Elizabeth Inez Hurst Hyder, 81, Johnson City, passed away Monday March 11, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Meridian, MS, and the daughter of the late Rolston Sr. and Evelyn Cornelia Sharp Hurst.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Rolston “Roy” Wilton Hurst Jr.; son: Paul Marshall Hyder; daughter-in-law: Teresa Ann Bailey Hyder; grandsons: Nason Michael Hopkins and Jeremy Keith Hyder.
She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 60 years: Dr. Nat Edens Hyder Jr.; daughter: Gretchen Evelyn Hyder and fiancé, Travis Sutton Byrd; sons: Nat Edens Hyder III and wife, Sherri, Michael Allen Hyder and wife, Robin; grandchildren: Ashley Elizabeth Garst and husband, Chris, Nathaniel Edens Hyder IV and wife, Tiffany, Heidi Leigh Sutphin and husband, Jason, Heather Blackburn and husband, Nathan; granddaughter-in-law, Elka Hyder; great-grandchildren: Autumn Rose Hyder, Nathaniel Edens Hyder V, Noah Elisha Hyder, Aaron Clay Arnold, Zack Riley Blackburn, Blake Trey Blackburn, Bryson Lee Hyder, Kelton Michael Hyder, Aubrey Janelle Sutphin, Julianne Katherine Sutphin, Erik Jasper Sutphin; Special friends: Delores “Doe Doe” True and Jackie Ringersma.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at The Courtyards Assisted Living Center, to 5500, 5200 and ICU staff members at the Johnson City Medical Center, and to Helping Hands for the loving care they provided.
A Celebration of Life Service for Elizabeth Hyder will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Ministers James Cambron and her son, Michael Allen Hyder, officiating.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
A Committal and Internment service will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers are: Teddy Walsh, Hudson Fortune, Jason Sutphin, Nathan Blackburn, Chris Garst, Nathaniel Hyder IV, Tim Walsh and Nick Walsh.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hampton First Baptist Church, 407 First Avenue, Hampton, TN 37658, where her son Mike Hyder is the pastor.
