Elizabeth Sluder Wolfgang, 81, Rutherfordton, North Carolina passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at Fair Haven Home, Bostic, North Carolina. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Wade Charles & Laura Frances Tolley Sluder. She had lived a number of years in Rutherfordton. Elizabeth was a former member of the Rittertown Baptist Church, Hampton and was presently a member of the Adaville Baptist Church, Spindale, North Carolina. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Oswald Smith, Jr. and Wade Larry Smith and a brother: Wade Charles Sluder, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years: Reo Wolfgang; one daughter: Sharon Smith Hicks and her husband Doug, Norwood, North Carolina; one son: Robin Eugene Smith and wife Glenda, Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina; two step-children: Tracy Wolfgang and Curtis Wolfgang; one sister: Patricia Ann Ray and husband Robert, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law: Gail Sluder, Elizabethton.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Entombment Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Debbie and Steve White. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Elizabeth to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or the Senior Ministries of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church C/O Mark Potter, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
