Mrs. Ella Mae McKinney, age 73, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Roan Highlands Nursing Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Pearl Hale Markland. Mrs. McKinney retired from U.S. Textile and she was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Dale McKinney, of the home; two daughters, Angie Miller and Shelia Barnett and husband Tim, all of Roan Mountain; two grandchildren, Joshua Miller and Riley Barnett, both of Roan Mountain; two sisters, Louise Baker and Helen Lyons, both of Roan Mountain and three brothers, John Markland, Roan Mountain, Lee Markland, Hampton and Henry Markland, Morganton, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mrs. Ella Mae McKinney will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 20, 2013 in Burbank Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Randy English officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Church. The family will receive friends at the Church from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the funeral service or friends may also call at the residence at other times. Committal and interment service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 21, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Barnett, Josh Miller, Logan Morrison, Ralph McKinney, Gary Lyons, Keith Lyons, Tyler Morrison, Kermit Baker and Johnny Baker. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 P.M. on Monday for the committal service.
