Mr. Ernest David Perkins, age 84, 130 Perkins Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Johnson County, TN, he was the son of the late Robert and Ester Wagner Perkins. Mr. Perkins was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Perkins, Otis Perkins and E.F. Perkins; and a sister, Nell Forrester.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Perkins, Elizabethton; a daughter, Rosemary Vance and husband, Larry, Elizabethton; two sons, Ed Perkins and wife, Shirley, and David Perkins and wife, Tina, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Michael Vance and wife, Jennifer, Laura Lemberger and husband, Ken, Frank Perkins and wife, Lisa, Kendra Perkins and Jon Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Lilly Vance, Andrew Vance, Richard Lemberger and Mckenzie Perkins; two sisters, Cleo Osborne and Nova Lee Hatch; and a brother, R.G. Perkins Jr. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service for Mr. Ernest David Perkins will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Saturday, December 1, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Active pallbearers will be Michael Vance, Frank Perkins, Jon Perkins, Richard Lemberger, Eddie Sams, Larry Vance and Marvin “Buck” Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be R.G. Perkins Jr., Glen Hardin and Houston Timbs. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Everyone will meet at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 11:15 A.M. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
