Mrs. Ethel F. Hart, 82, passed away on May 19th in Marietta, Georgia.
A loving, Christian wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy J. Hart; her son, Gary, and his wife, Sondra; sisters, Mary Sue Pierson and Lois Ann Smith and her husband Wayne. Her grandchildren are David, James and Lindsay Hart.
Ethel was born in Watauga in 1929, the eldest daughter of Mitchell and Donia Feathers. She grew up in the Brick Christian Church in Watauga, and graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1947 where she was the Homecoming Queen her senior year. After graduation she worked at North American Rayon until 1954, when she married her husband, Air Force pilot Roy J. Hart, Jr., also from Watauga. She and Roy moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1957 when he came to work for Lockheed Aviation. They made a home, raised a family, and lived in Marietta for the past 53 years. Ethel was a longtime member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta. She was well known for her outstanding baked goods which she was always eager to provide for any occasion or need. For many years, her favorite hobby was quilting. In addition to providing friends and family with many beautiful quilts, she also won several blue ribbons for her work in quilting shows. She always put everyone else first, and was always there to help whenever anyone needed anything. Rest in peace, and hold a place in Heaven for the rest of us.
Memorial services will be conducted by Dr. Edward Fine at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, on Thursday, May 26th at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
Interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnson City, at 10:00 a.m., Friday.
