Evelyn Lucinda Taylor, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Pine Ridge Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Flara Smith Taylor. Evelyn was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. She attended Hunter Memorial Baptist Church. Evelyn loved to work in her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Taylor, and four sisters, Louise Taylor, Pauline Edwards, Mary Baker and Edna Archer.
Survivors include three sisters, Betty Roten and Margaret Carver, both of Elizabethton, and Mildred Carriger of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services for Miss Taylor will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. James Hawk officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
