Fannie G. Stover

image Fannie G. Stover, age 80 of 717 Watauga Ave., Elizabethton passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at her residence following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Harrison and Mary Helen Taylor Stover. Ms. Stover was a graduate of Douglas High School and TN A and I in Nashville. She was a retired school teacher having taught 5 years in South Carolina and North Carolina School Systems and 28 years in the Elizabethton and Carter County School Systems. Ms. Stover was a member of Phillipi Baptist Church where she was the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, church treasurer and member of Mass Choir and was active in several community activities. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Sherman Stover, SGT. Billy Wayne Stover, U.S. Army and Robert James Stover, one sister, Reba Ann Watson.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Stover, Elizabethton, extended family, foster daughter, Angela Duffield Davis and husband, Corey, Atlanta, GA, foster sons, Eric Craig Duffield and Jason Mark Duffield, both of Atlanta, GA, four grandchildren, Imani, Seven, Corian, Kylah, who lovingly called her Grannie Fannie, two sisters, Evelyn Hagler and family, Mountain City, Louise Trammell and family, Elizabethton, two brothers, Charles Ronny Stover and family, Kingsport, George Franklin Stover and family, Elizabethton, two uncles, Earl F. Taylor, Charles Robert Taylor, all of Elizabethton. A host of nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service for Ms. Stover will be conducted at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Joseph Hollifield and Rev. Jeanette Clark officiating. Music will be under the direction of Phillipi Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at other times. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be nephews and family. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Phillipi Baptist Church.
