image Fannie Mae Berry Nelson, 89, Elizabethton passed away Saturday May 19, 2012 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Griffin P. and Donnie Mae Rainbolt Berry. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bill Nelson, February 3, 1996, by four brothers: Sanford, Wayne, Tine & Fred Berry and a sister: Norma Forrester.

Survivors include a son: Billy Joe Nelson of the home; a daughter and son-in-Law: Betty Sue & Gary Hensley, Danville, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Kathy Baker and husband Joseph, Fort Wright, Kentucky, Julie Hensley and husband Allen Kinter, Folly Beach, South Carolina and Timothy Nelson and wife Amber, Park River, North Dakota; four greatgrandchildren: William Harris, Taylor, Jackson and Hudson Nelson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dennis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy & Victor Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home especially to those who went above and beyond, also the staff of Caris Health Care and a very very special “Thank You” to Dr. Jonathan Bremer for his excellent care.
