Frances Elizabeth Ornduff

Miss Frances E. Ornduff, age 85, of Elizabethton died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, she had lived in Raleigh, NC for over 40 years and was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Gladys Gentry Ornduff. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and Steed College. Miss Ornduff retired as an administrative assistant in the Education Department of the State of North Carolina. She had previously worked in the purchasing department of Beaunit Fibers. Miss Ornduff was a member of First Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC and was a previous member of First Baptist Church, Elizabethton and Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton. She enjoyed music and playing and teaching the piano. Miss Ornduff was a member of the Thirty-niner’s Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry L. Ornduff; and a nephew, Eric Lee Collins. Survivors include two sisters, Peggy J. Ornduff and Millie Jane Collins and husband Gerald W., all of Elizabethton; two brothers, David R. Ornduff and wife Betsy Lou and Richard D. Ornduff, all of Elizabethton; two nephews, Timothy Ornduff and Gregory Ornduff, both of Knoxville; a great-nephew, Matthew Ornduff, Knoxville and a very special friend, Hazel Foster, Raleigh, NC.

A private funeral service for Miss Frances E. Ornduff will be held in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family, friends and deacons of Oak Street Baptist Church.
