Frances Turner Smith, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late W.B. and Elizabeth Campbell Turner. She loved to crochet and loved crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Adam Jack Smith, who died February 22, 1990; by two sons: Lonnie Turner, September 22, 2006; Lawrence Turner, July 11, 2010; and an infant daughter, Judy Smith; a grandson: Tommy Everett; two sisters: Sylvia Penley and Hildred Hubbard; and two brothers: Bill and Robin Turner. Survivors include a daughter-in-law: Lois Turner, Elizabethton; Two Granddaughters: Tammy Bowman, North Carolina, and Roberta Turner, of Texas; Five Great Grandchildren; Two Great Great Grandchildren; Several nieces & nephews; A special friend: Nina Hill. Graveside Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Pate officiating. Burial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to her first daughter-in-law and her husband, Cornelia and Walter Everette, Sonya Guinn Lorna Taylor, The Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Caris Hospice for the excellent care Mrs. Smith received. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime Monday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
