Geraldine McKinney Smith, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, in the Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Katie Hubbard McKinney. She was a retired employee Kennametal, Johnson City. Mrs. Smith was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church but attended Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Dianne Smith Moore; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years: J. Ray Smith; A Granddaughter: Ashley Rae Anderson and her husband, Kelly, Elizabethton; A Great Grandson: Hayden Anderson; One Sister: Shirley Cole, Johnson City; One Brother: Basil McKinney, Bristol, Tenn.; Her son-in-law: Carl W. Moore, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Burl Sluder and Dr. Alan King officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Monday will be: Jimmy Cole, Gary Townsend, Dewayne Greer, Steve Newton, Jeff Newton, Carl W. Moore, Shane Smith and Kelly Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Deacons of Zion Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
