Glen C. Cordell, 93, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Darius E. & China Smith Cordell. Mr. Cordell was a retired Carpenter. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Hampton Christian Church. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 2166 and the Military Order of Cooties.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Beulah Marie Lunceford Cordell, November 21, 2011; by Five brothers: Wayne, James. Nathaniel, Oliver and Loren Cordell; and two sisters: Edith Davis and Filisty Ann Cordell.

Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law: Emery & Freida Cordell and Dale & Pam Cordell, all of Elizabethton; Six Grandchildren: Bob Cordell, Michelle Taylor and her husband, Joe, Crystal Cordell, Carrie Larkin, Robin Peters and husband, Jamie, and Bethany Turbyfill; Seven Great Grandchildren: Heather Cordell, Garrett & Reid Taylor, Corey & Mikala Larkin, Haley Turbyfill and Carson Peters; One Sister: Janice Stafford, Hampton; Three Brothers: Zane Cordell, of Ohio, Gene Cordell, Jonesborough, and Dan Cordell, of Alabama; Several nieces & nephews.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister, and Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating.

Burial will follow the service. His great grandson, Carson Peters, and his father, Jamie, will provide music at the graveside. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Jamie Peters, Joe Taylor, Garrett Taylor, Gene Murphy, Bob Cordell, Wayne McClain and David Snyder. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Reed Taylor, Glen Bare, Clarence Reed, Marlow Tackett, Mack McClellan, Jeff Pierce and Richard Blevins. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy & Victor Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and the staff of ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
