Helen Belle Cox Godsey, age 89, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Minnie Eliza Johnson Cox. Mrs. Godsey was a member of Roan Hill Baptist Church, but has been attending Greenwood Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshiping and listening to the choir. She was a homemaker and loved her God, family and friends, and she taught her children the importance of family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Quenton Godsey; a daughter, Jayne Ellen Garland; four brothers, Willie B., Crit, Frank and Joseph Cox; four sisters, Katie Richardson, Ollie Pierce, Ruby Bozeman and Lydia McFall.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Andes and husband, Wayne, Sandra English and husband, Robert, all of Johnson City; one son, Mark L. Godsey, Canton, GA; beloved grandchildren of “Grammie,” Eric Andes and wife, Jen, Brandon Garland, Aaron English, Anna Hurley and husband, Kevin, Elizabeth Collums and husband, Joey, Amanda Jarrett and husband, Jimmy, Jacob Godsey; eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Isaac, Nathaniel, Josiah, Simeon, Matthew Samuel, and one expected great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
