Ina Mae Williams, age 96, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Eleanor Forrester Morrell.
She retired from Texas Instruments having worked in previous years at Bemberg and Raytheon Corporation.
Ms. Williams was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton, where she was a member of the Fidelias Sunday School Class and the Adult Activity Group. She taught Bible study and had a Sunday School at the Courtyard Apartments while residing there.
She was also a member of the Senior Citizens, AARP and served as chaplain of the Carter County Republican Women’s Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony D. Williams; brothers, Carl E. Morrell and J. Fred Morrell and his wife, Viola; a sister, Georgia Moore and her husband, Greg; a sister-in-law, Louise Morrell, and a brother-in-law, Dave Roe.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Brown and her husband, Aubrey, Watauga; a daughter-in-law, Linda Williams, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Tony Allen and wife, Buffy, Irondale, AL; Sissie Moore and husband, Eddie, Elizabethton; David Brown, Knoxville, TN; Danny Brown and wife, Karen, Unicoi; and Bryan Williams and wife, Christy, Elizabethton; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Nat. D. Morrell, Knoxville; and a sister, Barbara Roe, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Ina Mae Williams will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. Nathan Jennings and the Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the funeral service or at the residence of her daughter, Judy, at other times. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of First Freewill Baptist Church Elizabethton.
The family would like to express special thanks to all the employees of Ivy Hall Nursing Home including the kitchen staff, laundry staff, nursing staff, CNAs and administrators and the staff of Caris Hospice for their loving care of Ms. Williams.
