J.B. Heaton, 79, Elizabethton, passed Sunday June 9, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Blaine and Susan Bowman Heaton. He was a retired employee of the Alemite Corporation. Mr. Heaton served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 39 years: Anna Guinn Heaton. A Son & Daughter-in-Law: James & Markita Heaton, Elizabethton. A Daughter & Son-in-Law: Teresa & Terry Feathers, Johnson City. A Sister: Lou May, Johnson City. Several Nieces & Nephews. His four legged friend CoCo. Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Wesley Simons and Mr. Eddy Craft, Ministers officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Congregation. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Nurses Staff of James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Hall C1 and Dr. Reed and her staff. Military Honors will be provided by The American Legion & Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. To those who prefer, memorials may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
